Why Muslims fast, when to fast and what to avoid?
Ramadan is the Islamic holy month. Every day, from sunrise to sunset, Muslims abstain from eating and drinking to purify their mind, body and spirit. This is a very special and enlightening time and, particularly during Ramadan, visitors should respect the Islamic traditions, especially when it comes to dressing appropriately in public places. While most restaurants are closed during the day, some malls and many hotels have restaurants in which guests and visitors can dine freely during Ramadan. However, you may find areas that have been sectioned off using blinds, partitions or curtains simply out of respect for those who are fasting.
